Kheema/ Chicken Puff

So my friend told me about these puff pastry sheets. We wanted to make this when I went to visit her this month, however due to the lack of time we were not able to make it. So when I got back and went grocery shopping , I saw these at the store and wanted to try it out . This was my first time trying to make the puff and it turned out very very good. My husband loved it. So wanted to share it with you all. Enjoy!

Serving size: 5 to 6 puffs

Ingredients

1 ½ cup of minced meat (lamb or chicken)
½ tsp cumin seeds
½ tsp fennel seeds
¼ large onion, chopped (or 1 small, or ½ medium)
1 tomato, chopped
1 green chilli, chopped
½ tsp ginger garlic paste
2 tsp meat (lamb)/ chicken masala (depending on the meat you are using)
3 tbsp of water
¼ tsp Turmeric powder
¼ tsp coriander powder
¼ tsp garam masala
2 tbsp Olive Oil
Puff pastry Sheets ( I got the readymade pull sheets)
Handful of chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste

Method

Kheema Filling
In a pan, heat oil and add fennel and cumin seeds. Once it starts to splutter add the green chili and sauté for a min. Now add in the chopped onions and sauté till it becomes translucent. Next add the ginger garlic paste, sauté and then add the chopped tomatoes. Cook this mixture till the tomato becomes mushy. Now add all the masala powder and sauté. If it gets dry add 3 tbsp. of water and sauté. Add salt to taste and then add in the meat and cook well. Keep mixing the masala with the meet and smash the meat with the back of the spoon. cook till the water evaporates. Finally add the coriander leaves. Let this filling cool down. Next it is time to make the puffs, take a puff pastry sheet and place it on a plate (NOTE: rem to thaw the sheets at room temperature before making the puffs) now add a little filling in the center of the sheet and fold it and secure the ends such that the filling does not come off. Once you make it all place it in a tray and bake it for 10 to 11 min (depending on the oven) at 390 degrees and then turn the puff carefully to cook the other side for about 3 to 4 min. Serve hot with ketchup or just enjoy it like that. Its super Yummy.

NOTE: In case you are not sure about the cooking time, put it for 5 min first and keep checking. It should be golden brown on both sides.  If you have any leftover meat you can make kheema or chicken paratha with it too.
